‘Conor McGregor sabotaged the scales’- Belal Muhammad offers a wild conspiracy theory about Charles Oliveira’s weigh-ins
Belal Muhammad shared a videp of him knocking out Conor McGregor in the UFC 4 game
UFC 274 can’t get any more crazy. As the fighters are supposed to fight on Saturday, May 7, they stepped on the weighing scale one last time before the fight. Charles Oliveira was to defend his title against Justin Gaethje as the main event at UFC 274. Justin stepped on the scale and weighed in at 155 pounds.
Oliveira first came to the scales with five minutes remaining in the initial weigh-in period and missed the weight by one pound. He was given an additional hour to cut the weight, but he missed it once again after returning. Charles missed the weight by 0.5 pounds and his official weight for the fight is 155.5
After missing the weight, Charles was stripped off his lightweight belt, and he will give up a certain amount of his match fee to Justin Gaethje. Charles will remain the Lightweight champion. however, after the commencement of UFC 274, the Lightweight belt will be vacant. If Justin Gaethje wins against Charles Oliveira, he will become the new Lightweight champion. However, if Charles wins, he will be considered as the number one contender for the Lightweight Title and he will fight for the vacant title in the future.
After the incident, many fighters had their say about it. The MMA community had mixed opinions about the event and expressed their dislike about Charles missing the weight before UFC 274.
Among many statements, UFC fighter Belal Muhammad made an unusual conspiracy theory about Charles missing his weight on Friday. According to Belal, it was Conor who sabotaged the weighing scale because he wanted the lightweight title fight against Justin Gaethje. Belal tweeted: “Conor probably sabotaged the scales he’s the only one that benefited from this.. If Justin wins tomorrow, I’m pretty sure he’ll be next.”
It was rumored that Conor will skip the queue and face Charles Oliveira for the Lightweight title. However, nothing was confirmed by the UFC and the fight between Charles and Gaethje was announced for UFC 274.
Charles Oliveira talks about missing weight ahead of UFC 274
After missing the weight on Friday, Charles Oliveira was stripped off his lightweight belt and was even fined an undisclosed amount of his fight fee.
While some believe that a faulty scale was to blame that doesn’t change the fact that Oliveira missed weight for what was supposed to be his second-straight title defense. It’s the fifth time in Oliveira’s UFC career he has missed weight, but the first at the lightweight level. Even for a fighter with a track history of coming in overweight, this was a shocking incident.
Charles later issued a statement about missing the weight on Friday. He posted an Instagram post with the caption: “The champion has a name — his name is Charles Oliveira. Let’s go with everything Brazilian nation. God is God. He never abandoned me and it won’t be now that he goes. I am the CHOSEN THE ILLUMINATED.”
Olivera even talked about the incident at the UFC 274’s ceremonial weigh-ins.
Oliveira said: “The story is that I went up to my room. I made weight on the UFC scale on Thursday night. I go up to my room and consumed nothing. No water, no food, no anything. I swear to God. In the name of my daughter, the most sacred thing in my life. I went to bed. I wake up the following day and it’s a pound over.“
Oliveria also blamed the hotel scale and said that it was because of the hotel scale he missed the weight. Oliveira said: “I’m looking at it and I’m one kilogram over, actually. I’m one over and I don’t understand what happened. I can’t understand. We work. We’re professionals. I didn’t do anything wrong. To me, it just didn’t make sense. Other fighters started talking about it as well. They started talking about those 200 grams, 300 grams. It was exactly the difference of the scale with the UFC.”
