Belal Muhammad touches on training amidst Ramadan for UFC 288
Gilbert Burns is set to take on Belal Muhammad at UFC 288 as the co-main event. Both fighters were witnessed training hard in their respective fight camps. Muhammad is also a Muslim. So, the fighter has to train amidst Ramadan fasting. The fighter was questioned on his training methods while fasting.
“For Ramadan, you’re not eating from sunrise to sunset. For me, I’m still training during that time,” said Muhammad. He then continued, “I’m going training in the mornings. I’m going throughout the whole day without eating or drinking and have another practice before I break my fast.”
“Obviously it’s different,” said Muhammad on training while fasting. “I was having to put the right stuff in my body. The right carbs, the right proteins because I wanted to feel good the next day when I train. So, all that changes when it’s Ramadan. While I was training and I was fasting, I felt uncomfortable,” said Belal Muhammad.
