The UFC 295 main card had a peculiar fight in the form of Benoit Saint-Denis vs Matt Frevola. Both fighters have served in the respective armed forces of their countries. Like all other fights in the main card of UFC 295, the fight ended in a finish. However, the Frenchman knocked out the American in front of his home crowd in New York.

The fight ended very quickly in the first round in less than 2 minutes. The fight ended with a head kick that knocked the 14th-ranked Frevola out cold. Even though he called out the likes of Justin Gaethje, Islam Makhachev, Arman Tsarukyan, and Mateusz Gamrot, it was what he said about history that caught everybody’s attention. This is what he said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan:

Thank you America to save us a lot of years ago after the first world war and second world war. Thank you guys, and we did a great job with the fire a long time ago, Thank you America.

Apparently, UFC 295 coincided with Veteran’s Day in the US, it is known as Armistice Day in Commonwealth countries. Saint-Denis paid tribute to the soldiers in his post-fight speech before he talked about the fight. Moreover, both Frevola and Saint-Denis were seen saluting each other in the aftermath of the fight.

After the victory, Saint-Denis called for a main event fight in Paris against fellow European lightweight Mateusz Gamrot. Moreover, he also called for a BMF title shot and a lightweight title shot. However, it remains to be seen whether any one of the top 10 lightweights would fight somebody outside of the top 10.

Benoit Saint-Denis vows to give war to Justin Gaethje inside the octagon

UFC 295 witnessed all of its main card fights ending in under two rounds. The second fight of the main card, Benoit Saint-Denis vs Matt Frevola, resulted in a brutal head-kick finish for the French former Special Operations soldier. Saint-Denis, who is now tied with the longest active finish streak in the UFC with Shavkat Rakhmonov, now has great things ahead.

In his post-fight interview, he called a variety of lightweights. However, it was his callout to Justin Gaethje that was the best out of them. This is what he said:

I would love to fight this guy that was just on the screen. Justin Gaethje, I'm a big fan, but I'm gonna give him war.

Justin Gaethje attended the event and was shown on the big screen during the Saint Denis interview. Nevertheless, a matchup with Gaethje seems far-fetched, particularly due to Gaethje being locked in for a title shot after Islam Makhachev vs Charles Oliveria. However, Saint-Denis can hope for a fighter ranked in the top 10 in his next fight, as he will certainly be ranked in the top 15 for taking out 14th-ranked Matt Frevola.
