Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has always been known for his striking, but he is also an accomplished grappler. Recently promoted to black belt, “the Notorious” has released a grappling video on X. The video has garnered many positive responses. Moreover, McGregor has re-entered the USADA testing pool ahead of his highly-anticipated return.
In the video, McGregor is seen working on his ground game. Sparring with his training partner. He starts by avoiding a guillotine chokehold and overturns it with a face lock. Consequently, his partner taps out to it. Then, engaging in a butterfly sweep-and-turn he goes for submission by a Kimura-like lock, but that gets overturned the second time around. McGregor gets back on top instantly and executes a skillful armbar submission.
McGregor’s transition into the armbar during the match has drawn in many speculative responses. A few fans have gone so far as to invoke a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two fought back at UFC 229, where the Irishman faced a submission loss. A few responses were critical of him for not having taught Dillon Danis the same moves. Recently, Danis lost his match to boxer Logan Paul in the DAZN pay-per-view boxing bout.
Immediately after the training video, McGregor confirmed that he’s submitted two tests to the US Anti-Doping Agency ahead of his return, but did so by sharing a video on X.
Conor McGregor confirms drug collection for USADA test pool in viral video
Earlier this month, Conor McGregor had taken to X, to inform of his return to the USADA testing pool, ahead of his return. CEO Dana White had reaffirmed the same. Recently, McGregor posted a very implausible video, recreating an iconic moment from The Wolf Of Wall Street movie. He has not competed in the Octagon since July 2021, when he suffered a defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The fight also saw him injuring his leg.

In a thematic scene recreation, McGregor posted videos from his yacht. He informed of how USADA officials had come aboard his boat to collect his samples on two occasions. As such, 3 samples each of blood and urine were requisitioned. He also stated how he complied with all of their requests. A little later in the video, he is seen relaxing on his boat.
With the US Anti-Doping Agency pool processing thus initiated, McGregor can make his successful return to the promotion. The latest estimate puts his return at around early 2024. Marking the carriage of this contract, USADA itself has no more business with UFC, as it has released a lengthy statement of separation.
