“Bodied by Brunson” – Bo Nickal brings back Darren Till’s loss in call-out response

Bo Nickal is one of the highest touted prospects to emerge on the MMA scene in recent times.

While it may not be the case that he’s faced high-class opponents till now, or even faced off against any official UFC fighter yet, the hype Nickal has generated has some backing. Coming from an already established wrestling background, the former Penn State wrestler has looked extremely good on his feet, and even ended his recent fight on Dana White’s Contender Series within 53 seconds.

This has prompted experts and UFC fighters to have a say in the matter. Some, like Chris Curtis believe that the young wrestler is being shrouded with too much drama at this early point in his career – he must prove his worth first. On the flip side, people like Ariel Helwani and Henry Cejudo have proclaimed that he will go a long way in the sport.

Darren Till, on the other hand, has taken a different approach. He wrote on Twitter, “Bo nickal is looking good, be good to meet up with him in the future in the octagon. Drive the left hand through his skull…

Now, it seems like he’s prompted a response out of Nickal, who said on tape, “Man, Darren. Very, very cute… I guess that’s my first impression, that’s it, that’s a cute thing for you to say. Having been bodied by Derek Brunson, another wrestler, another grappler who is a tough dude.

He continued, “I don’t know why you’d say something like that knowing what I could do to you. So, hopefully, we fight in the future, and hopefully, you’re ready. Good luck!

While this kind of match-up may seem enticing for the young American, he must first focus on the task at hand – that is, getting past Jamie Pickett at UFC 282.

Coincidentally, Briton Darren Till is booked to fight on the very same card. He faces South African grappler Dricus Du Plessis. Both Nickal and Till fight on the UFC 282 card.

A fight between Till and Nickal, if it were to happen at some stage of their careers, would be an exciting affair. Bo Nickal is a tremendous wrestler, and Darren Till has showcased his weakness on the mat against grapplers like Derek Brunson and Tyron Woodley. However, if they were to stand in the centre and trade, it is hard to see how Bo Nickal could be favoured. Till has dropped Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker and even Derek Brunson, with the powerful left.

A match-up could be booked by the UFC in the future. The two must first defeat who has been put in their paths by the matchmakers of the promotion.
