UFC 290 will feature the second PPV bout of Bo Nickal’s young career. The standout college wrestler will face the undefeated Val Woodburn at UFC 290. Nickal remains the most exciting prospect in the middleweight division. Being a wrestling standout, Nickal spoke about the wrestling pedigree of the UFC fighters. He chimed in on a longstanding question if Islam Makhachev can outwrestle Jordan Burroughs in a wrestling match.

Bo Nickal said, “So funny, he doesn’t have a chance. Jordan Burroughs is a seven-time world champion, the greatest not only American but the greatest wrestlers period in the world that anyone has ever seen. I don’t think that is a competitive situation. He (Islam) doesn’t really come from a wrestling background. In MMA it is different, but in wrestling, it is not close.”

Islam Makhachev once told Daniel Cormier that he would easily defeat Jordan Burroughs in a wrestling match. However, most fans and analysts do not believe the claims. Even Cormier disagreed with the claims, but Makhachev remained firm in his stance about defeating Burroughs. Burrough remains the most accomplished wrestler in his weight class.

Islam Makhachev has only lost once in his MMA career. The Dagestani fighter captured the UFC lightweight belt last year in Abu Dhabi. He submitted Charles Oliveira in the second round to capture the lightweight belt. The duo will likely rematch later this year and will headline the 2023 PPV card in Abu Dhabi.
