“They’re self-sabotaging him bad”- Brandon Moreno claims Deiveson Figueiredo’s team is turning out to be dangerous for his career
Henry Cejudo carrying Deiveson Figueiredo after UFC 270 win
Deiveson Figueiredo got the win against Brandon Moreno in their third meeting. He reclaimed his flyweight title, and now these two are 1-1-1 against each other. UFC wanted to book a fourth fight between them, but a series of unfortunate events prevented this from happening.
After their third fight, Figueiredo said he’d love to beat Moreno again, but he changed his opinion soon enough and started scouting for other opponents. Kai Kara-France got back-to-back wins against Cody Garbrandt and Askar Askarov, and that caught Figueiredo’s attention.
He called for a title fight against him, and at the same time, he accused Moreno of passing racist comments toward him. He also revealed that he is dealing with a hand injury, and he’s been out of action for a long time. UFC booked a fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France for the interim flyweight title, but Moreno believes his beef with Figueiredo is far from over.

“Making excuses since the beginning”- Brandon Moreno believes Deiveson Figueiredo is afraid to fight him for the fourth time
Talking to MMA Junkie, Moreno claimed Figueiredo was looking for a way out from the fourth fight between them, and this injury excuse backfired on him, “Look, anyone can make their own conclusions, but what I think is that he’s been making excuses since the beginning and he hasn’t stopped. He even tried to say I’m racist and those type of things. I feel like after that didn’t work for him, he had no choice but to say I’m injured and I can’t fight.”
He added, “Look, from all the people I speak about this around the situation and everyone I’ve discussed this with, we’ve gotten to the conclusion that he’s not a bad person. I just think he’s not that smart, let’s just say. I think he surrounds himself with people who think they’re smart, but at the end of the day, regardless of how good of a person you are, you’re the one that makes your decisions.”
“At the end of the day, that’s what’s going to represent you and that’s how the world is going to perceive you. If he’s listening to people around him, I think they’re self-sabotaging him bad, very bad. And that’s the problem when you get together with people who think they know it all. I’ve always said it, it’s easier when you recognize you’re dumb,” Moreno concluded.
