“It’s still beautiful” Brandon Moreno responds to Deiveson Figueiredo’s plastic belt comments

Brandon Moreno and Deivison Figueredo have shared the most intense rivalry that the flyweight division has ever managed to produce. The saga started when Deivison accepted a short notice fight against Brandon Moreno to make a quick turnaround and secure a second title defense to his name before the end of 2020.

This first fight however ended in a draw calling for a rematch that would see the Champion Deiveson get beat up for the entirety of the fight. It was after their second duel that the mood in the camps shifted. While after his loss the Brazilian would pick up and embrace the newly crowned Moreno, that was the last cordial exchange between the two and relations have soured since.

While Figgy would accuse Moreno and his camp of hurling racist insults and memes toward his teammates, Moreno was generally turned off by the new and annoying personality Deiveson would adopt courtesy of former Champion, Henry Cejudo. Hence it was only natural that the reaction to an interim title bout would be anything but civilized.

Brandon Moreno feels the interim Belt is as Beautiful as any other

The UFC announced that Kai Kara France and Brandon Moreno would face off for the interim title at UFC 277 in Dallas. This was because of Figueiredo’s perceived unavailability (something many feel is a holdout to secure a better fight deal) that the UFC decided to green-light the bout. There have also been rumors that Figgy is unable to make weight and hence all the excuses to delay the fourth fight.

While many saw it as a welcome move to get the division moving and warranting a fourth fight between the two, Figueiredo was unhappy claiming it doesn’t matter who holds the “plastic belt” He said, ” There’s no other belt, except for this plastic belt, this joke they’re doing between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France.”

Today Moreno responded to figgy’s criticism while talking to Ariel Helwani. “Maybe it’s a plastic belt but it is still beautiful, it’s surely beautiful so I wouldn’t mind fighting for a Lego belt or a plastic belt whatever I don’t care.”

Moreno then entertained the idea that he’d talk to his bosses to have his fight made for a Lego belt as suggested by Ariel Helwani.
