“If someone comes to my house, you’ll pay!” Brazilian fighter Michel Pereira reveals wife getting death threats after Israel flag walkout

Michel Pereira is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the welterweight division. He is known for his flashy and acrobatic fighting style, incorporating techniques such as spinning kicks, flying knees, and backflips into his fights. Pereira made his professional MMA debut in 2011 and has competed in various promotions, including the UFC.

While he has had mixed results in his career, Pereira’s unorthodox fighting style and entertaining performances have made him a popular figure among MMA fans. Recently, Michel Pereira made an entrance at UFC Fight Night 230 with an Israeli flag. This was an attempt to show his support for some of his Israeli friends. In addition, after the event, Pereira stated, “I didn’t see much, but my wife received a lot of messages, a lot of threatening messages, to kill us. So I didn’t see it, but I’m going to let everyone know that if something happens, if someone comes to my house, they will pay.”

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on since the 1940s and is a heated topic for the two ethnic groups. Hence, Pereira has faced backlash from the Palestinian community for his open support of Israel. In an interview with the MMA Hour, Pereira addressed the backlash he received for his act of support.

Subsequently, Pereira stated that he had not received any threats, but his wife had received several death threats. In addition, Pereira stated that if anybody tries to hurt his family, they will gravely regret their actions.

Michel Pereira reveals why he supports Israel

Pereira, wearing an Israeli flag, stepped into the octagon to face Andre Petroski at UFC Fight Night 230. The bout was Pereira’s UFC middleweight debut since he was having difficulty cutting weight in the welterweight division.

However, Pereira showed his efficiency in the division by knocking down Petroski with a straight right punch. Subsequently, Pereira proceeded to end the match via a TKO, as the bout only lasted for 66 seconds. Furthermore, Pereira wore the Israeli flag at the post-fight press conference, and an interviewer asked him about it. Pereira stated, ”The decision was because of the war that is happening in Israel. I have a lot of friends there, and I saw a lot of videos that broke my heart.” 

In addition, Pereira stated that he supports Israel because of the atrocities happening in the country. Furthermore, Pereira stated that he has many friends in Israel and is concerned for their safety.
