The UFC Vegas 90 main event initially featured Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori. An injury to “The Italian Dream” Vettori paved the path for Chris Curtis to replace him. Allen won a close split decision against Curtis at UFC Vegas 90. As such, Vettori expressed his disapproval of the fight’s result and called Allen’s performance “embarrassing.”
During the post-fight press conference, Brendan Allen addressed the remarks and ranted about Marvin Vettori. The Louisiana native claimed Vettori boasted a lot only to back off from their scheduled fight. Further, he mentioned that Vettori only liked to talk on social media.
You said explicitly on media that when you saw me, you were gonna beat my a**. You saw me, only thing you said was, 'What's up, man?'... The only time he wants to do something is when it's in front of people. So, I don't give a f**k... If you're a man, stand behind what you say.Brendan Allen via UFC Post-Fight Press Conference
A ‘freak accident’ pulled Vettori from the main event at UFC Vegas 90. The Italian fighter updated fight fans on Instagram about the withdrawal. However, the former title contender did not go into more detail about the ‘freak accident.’ As of now, Vettori has yet to recover from the injury. However, Allen felt that Vettori could not back up the big talk and pulled out as a result.
Allen will likely get a top-ten opponent for his next fight. As such, it remains to be seen if the UFC rebook the Vettori vs. Allen fight. The two fighters have legitimate beef with each other. The storyline so far has resulted in entertaining trash talks. Moreover, Vettori had a stark response to Allen following the remark. Hence, a future might be brewing between the two middleweights.
Marvin Vettori’s response to Brendon Allen’s latest remarks
When Brendan Allen went on a tirade at Marvin Vettori during the press conference, he wasn’t about to stop. Vettori, who had earlier criticized the fighter, didn’t waste much time and responded with a second tweet. Earlier, ‘The Italian Dream’ mocked Allen for having a close fight against the #14 ranked contender.
In the tweet, the Italian fighter revealed behind-the-scene details about the behavior of Allen once Vettori pulled out. This remains a serious accusation from Vettori, as Allen has never appeared that way during interviews and press conferences.
Ok yes perfect you literally went and cried to our manager and cried all week to all the staff and I kneeew you were gonna talk some shit like that after. All goodMarvin Vettori via X
The duo might continue to trash-talk each other in the immediate future. Allen and Vettori are not in the title picture. Fighters like Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker, Khamzat Chimaev, and Jared Cannonier remain ahead of them. As such, the best option for right now is to let Allen and Vettori settle their beef inside the octagon.
