Bryce Mitchell steps foot on the octagon on short notice for UFC 296. He takes on one of the hardest-hitting featherweights, Josh Emmett. He took this fight on short notice after Emmett’s fight with Giga Chikadze fell out after the latter injured his groin. Now, ‘Thiug Nasty’ revealed his hard times during a blizzard at his home.

Bryce Mitchell was a surging prospect in the UFC and earned the respect of the MMA community. But he continued to live his life away from the spotlight. As such, he embraced his life living in a trailer in Arkansas. In an interview with Michael Bisping, he revealed about the weather in his hometown and spoke about his struggles during those times. As such, he recalled an incident when he was forced to relieve himself in a primal way. Here is what he said:

My sh** tank would freeze up. I have to go sh** outside in the snow. I sh** outside in the snow and cover it up with snow. You know, like the dogs do.

Further in the interview, Bryce Mitchell spoke about his life in Arkansas and how he stays warm during winters. He explained that he lived in a trailer and would make use of a wood stove to keep himself warm.

‘Thug Nasty’, unlike other fighters, lived off the radar and embraced simplicity. Also, he raised livestock and cultivated food to remain self-sufficient. However, he expected a baby in four months and worked hard to build a home for his child.

Bryce Mitchell takes on a tough challenge in Josh Emmett this weekend. He is coming off a win over Dan Ige in his last outing. On the other hand, Emmett lost his previous two fights and will aim to return to the win column.

Bryce Mitchell speaks about taking the short-notice fight against Josh Emmett

The UFC summoned Bryce Mitchell when Giga Chikadze pulled out of his fight with Josh Emmett. ‘Thug Nasty,’ without an ounce of doubt, accepted the fight on a 10-day notice.

In a recent interview with UFC.com, he recalled the moment he accepted the fight. Mitchell said he was 20 feet up the ladder working on his construction when he agreed to fight. Only later did he realize what he had agreed to. However, he was strongly motivated to fight and spoke about the same.

Bryce Mitchell said that he didn’t expect to fight again this year because he was occupied by personal work aside from fighting. However, when presented with the huge opportunity to fight Josh Emmett, he just couldn’t refuse it. Here is what he said:

I literally couldn't say no because I haven't had an opportunity this great before. So, it didn't matter where I was or what I was doing, I was going to say yes on that one... Well, for the family, this is going to mean a whole lot. It's gonna set me up. This is what this is all about. I'm fighting for my family.
