As such, Sean Strickland didn’t hold back from anything and delivered with his usual outspoken character. Also, a fan escaped the security during the event to shake hands with the middleweight champion.

The very first question of the press conference stirred up controversy as Sean Strickland voiced out for free speech. Firstly, he questioned the fans on which UFC champion, except for him, had stood up for the fans. As such, he affirmed he would always fight for the fans and stated he cared about them. These words from the middleweight champion had the fans roaring. Here is what he said:

When have you ever seen a UFC champion, George St-Pierre, or anybody else stick up for you fu****g guys? I fu****g do it! I do it. I'm not chasing the Chinese checkmark of Nike. I don't give a fu** about that. I care about you guys. I care about you guys being free, I care about you guys having freedom of speech.

Inspired by Sean Strickland’s speech, a fan from the stands broke the security to meet the middleweight champ. As such, he climbed the stage and shook hands with Strickland before the security guards escorted him out. Upon seeing the fan, Strickland shouted, ‘Let’s go,’ multiple times, making the arena electric.

Sean Strickland became the UFC middleweight champion when he beat Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. It was a huge upset win as many believed Adesanya would easily win. Now, he faces his equal in Dricus Du Plessis as his next opponent. As such, Strickland looked forward to defending his title in UFC 297.
