Canadian UFC heavyweight Tanner Boser was cut from the UFC recently after his last fight on the contract. There are speculations that Boser was cut due to his rant about UFC sponsors. He recently slammed the UFC’s sponsorship policies, claiming he doesn’t “get a single penny” from most sponsors. He specifically mentioned the UFC’s partnership with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Project Rock footwear line, which fighters wear at events.
Boser called out multiple UFC sponsors for not giving him payments for sporting their brands. He expressed his disappointment in an interview with veteran journalist James Lynch. The heavyweight said, “Every f**kface company which is not paying me can go f**k themselves. The Rock Shoes can go fu*k themselves too“. Boser did appreciate the official kit sponsor Venom for paying him for wearing the gear.
Boser also called out the UFC’s cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com for not giving fighters any payment. He is not the only fighter to stand up to UFC sponsors. Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya also stood up to Monster Energy. Long back, Brock Lesnar famously trashed Bud Light on the UFC 100 PPV. It is important to note that Boser does not have the star power of Lesnar or Adesanya.
The UFC is a successful organization, and as such, it can attract a wide range of sponsors. These sponsorships help them generate revenue, which allows them to grow and thrive. The Dana White-led promotion is also very litigious from a business point of view. Fans believe Boser was cut from the UFC due to his dispute with the sponsors.
