“Thought he would lose in last fight,” Chael Sonnen predicts Paddy Pimblett to become world champion in future

Paddy Pimblett- Chael Sonnen
Paddy Pimblett impressed a lot of pros from the MMA world in his last performance and Chael Sonnen stands out as one of them. Sonnen, a retired MMA fighter with a record of 31-17 and a draw, last fought in June 2019 when he lost via TKO in the second round to former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida under the Bellator MMA promotion. Sonnen is now a promoter and a famous Youtuber with over a million subscribers.
Pimblett last stole the show at UFC London this past weekend when he finished Jordan Leavitt via second-round submission and later on went on to spread a message on mental health in his Octagon interview. Pimblett, a former Cage Warriors champion, is 3-0 so far in the UFC and is one of the most recognizable names in MMA now. Pimblett is now 19-3 in his overall MMA career with 16 wins via finishes. Pimblett trains at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool, England.
Paddy Pimblett impressed Chael Sonnen with the ability to push the pace like the greats

In one of the videos on his Youtube channel, Chael Sonnen talks about Pimblett’s victory in the last UFC London event and the MMA legend went on to make a major inference from that win over Leavitt, who by the way was never finished in his professional career until Pimblett submitted him.
“I thought he was gonna lose this fight,” says Sonnen “I thought Jordan Leavitt is a little bit harder opponent than Paddy is ready for… [but] that Paddy we saw over the weekend could be a world champion… [he] showed his ability [in the fight] to push the pace, the greats, all can push the pace, it’s a hard thing to see as an audience, the fellow competitors know it though and they can recognise it…” continues Sonnen.
What do you make of the conclusion Sonnen arrived on about Pimblett? Do you think he is right? Do you think Pimblett will become a UFC champion in the future? Also, who should Pimblett fight next? Pimblett is yet to break into the top 15 of the UFC lightweight rankings and after 3 spectacular wins via finishes, the fights with ranked opponents would make all the sense now. But lightweight Jared Gordan is the latest person to call out “The Baddy” for a fight based on spreading awareness on mental health.
