The local police searched Jorge Masvidal’s Miami home after a shooting occurred there on Thursday. Reports state that the man was shot in the arm during a heated disagreement that finally turned into a major altercation. The victim reported to the authorities that the suspect shot him with a gun during the argument.
Masvidal’s father, Jorge Masvidal Sr., who is now in police custody and awaiting questioning, is the main suspect in the event. Fortunately, the police reported that the recently retired UFC fighter wasn’t inside the residence. “The listed owner of the residence is Jorge Masvidal Jr… He was not present during the incident and did not have any involvement,”
Although it is not yet known how the two parties involved are related to one another, it is obvious that they are familiar with one another. The cause of the altercation is still under investigation. Other than that, no other parties were involved in the incident or harmed.
Masvidal is expected to host an event for his Bareknuckle MMA promotion this Friday and has not made any statement regarding the whole incident involving his father.
Jorge Masvidal’s father’s sacrifice helped him become a UFC great
Masvidal has frequently talked about his father and the numerous sacrifices he made so that the fighter might live a better life. Jorge Masvidal Sr. and his best buddy escaped Cuba on a homemade raft in search of new chances in the US.
For a period, Jorge Masvidal Sr. first worked in construction, but his questionable history eventually caught up with him. As a result, he was detained by the police on suspicion of manslaughter and narcotics trafficking. Masvidal was just four years old at the time of the occurrence, and his mother misled him by telling him that his father was in the military before revealing the truth. “Gamebred” criticized his father for his upbringing in his youth, although things have significantly changed since then.
“We tell each other what to do. He’s a lot like me and I’m a lot like him and we have a special way of telling each other. He always gets his point across to me. He always been more of a best friend guiding me through life,” said Masvidal about his father during an interview with ESPN MMA.
Jorge has made significant progress from his days as a mere street fighter to being regarded as a legend of the sport and having accomplished much inside the UFC octagon.
