Things are serious when even Dana White has to barge into the octagon! UFC 294 suffered a blow when the third bout of the card became a no-contest. The bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker had a controversial moment with the doctor. The doctor’s intervention did not please the fans or the fighters.
It all started when Ankalaev landed a knee strike on a grounded Johnny Walker. The foul led the referee to call the doctor into the ring. The doctor asked Walker some questions to gauge his physical condition. However, moments later, the doctor asked the referee to wave off the fight as he deemed Walker could not continue to fight.
As soon as the referee ended the contest, Walker and Ankalaev protested the decision and almost started brawling. The securities inside the octagon did a great job of controlling the situation. Dana White also convinced Walker that he would look into the matter and figure out the situation.
Magomed Ankalaev expressed disappointment in being unable to fight a full bout in Abu Dhabi. He had the support of the crowd. The two fighters would fight at a later date. The winner would likely get a crack at light heavyweight champion.
