” Stop comparing him,” Ali Abdelaziz fires back at Charles Oliveira being compared to Khabib Nurmagomedov

Former UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is on such a dominance as in his prime that many of the MMA world are already comparing him to UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, but for Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, that’s too soon to happen. Oliveira is coming off a spectacular first round finish of Justin Gaethje, at UFC 274 in a fight where only Gaethje was eligible to win the lightweight championship because Oliveira missed championship weight by 0.5 lbs.

Now, Oliveira is looking forward to what he calls as his ‘next title defence’ despite having his belt stripped. Oliveira is pitched by the MMA community to fight #3 ranked lightweight Islam Makhachev, who is on a 10-fight winning streak, just one win behind Charles Oliveira. Even the UFC President Dana White believes that is the fight to make. Islam is seen by many as the toughest challenge for Oliveira in his prime and might possibly be the one to upset and end Oliveira’s 11-fight winning streak.

Charles Oliveira has not impressed Ali Abdelaziz enough to pitch him against Khabib Nurmagomedov

In a tweet, Khabib and Islam’s manager Ali Abdelaziz said “I respect Olivera but stop comparing him to Khabib. Khabib never been submitted, never been dropped, never shed blood in the octagon. And Olivera didn’t clear the division yet. You have Beneil & Islam. @TeamKhabib @MAKHACHEVMMA @beneildariush.” By this Ali meant to say is that Oliveira is yet to fight #3 ranked Makhachev and #4 ranked Beneil Dariush, which are managed by Ali himself so one cannot put Oliveira in a status to compare Khabib.

What did you make of this tweet from Abdelaziz? Do you think it was right, or is it really high time to pitch Oliveira’s record and legacy against Khabib? Who do you think is next for Oliveira, if do not agree with Islam being the next opponent? Where do you put Oliveira amongst the best fighters in the UFC?
