Charles Oliveira reacts to Gaethje’s mind games! Justin Gaethje is set to be the next title challenger at lightweight. He will be facing the lightweight champion at UFC 274. The fight is just 3 weeks away. The lead-up has been interesting.
There have been interesting takes from Justin’s end with regards to the matchup. Post-UFC 269 where he defeated one of the best pounds for pound fighters out there. He beat him in an emphatic fashion. Yet, Post the fight, Justin stated, “He better pray and hope for the next however many days until our fight that he takes me down, gets his choke. Because if not, we see what happens.”
Charles disagreed with the statement and was to an extent even rattled by it. He is under the belief of the opposite. When asked, He stated, “I believe so much in my firepower. I have firepower in my hands and I’ve been showing it, I’ve been evolving. We won a very important fight against Dustin Poirier. Do you think we were celebrating and joking? No, we sit down and analyze what I did or didn’t do wrong.”
Charles Oliveira explains why he feels he’s currently ‘a step above’ the entire lightweight division
Charles recently did an interview on “MMA clips Brazil”. He had a very insightful conversation with regards to his thoughts and response to his critics. In his last few bouts, he has proved that he is undoubtedly the best lightweight fighter on the planet. In the interview, he states the reason why, “I think today I’m a step above the lightweight division. Mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’m not nervous anymore,” Oliveira said.”
Charles further reacts to his thoughts on his entire division and its landscape. It was very thoughtful. He contended the disrespectful arguments on his skillset with regards to his striking and will to fight. He said Gaethje is a phenomenal fighter but if you look at his recent fights against Michael Chandler, we can see him be put through vulnerable situations.
While he knocked Michael via a stiff left hook. Not to mention, he was knocked down prior and he had grit and will to continue to fight and also win in the subsequent. He also said when he fought Dustin Porier he went on a full-on war on the feet while he got knocked down and lost.
He stated “I am a MMA fighter not just a jiu-jitsu fighter anymore” He further stated that he is comfortable against anyone at 155 whether be it on feet or on the ground.
