“Can see 100 percent” – Charles Oliveira reveals the surgery that fixed his vision ahead of Islam Makhachev’s fight at UFC 280

Charles Oliveira, the former UFC lightweight champion, will return to action this weekend when he competes against Islam Makhachev in UFC 280’s main event. “Do Bronx” is in red-hot form as seen by his eleven-fight winning streak. However, Oliveira won’t experience this issue in his bout against Islam Makhachev because he fixed his vision by going through surgery. Oliveira recently said that his vision is now cent percent. Appearing on BT Sports Oliveira was asked about his eye surgery. He responded, “About six months ago got that surgery, got my eye fixed, yeah can see 100 percent.”
When questioned about whether he would be more dangerous with his perfect vision, Oliveira responded, “Of course, I mean before I was hitting without even seeing anything, imagine that now I am seeing what I am hitting.” The Brazilian lightweight will attempt to recapture the belt that he previously was stripped of as he failed to make weight at UFC 274.

“Do Bronx” easily made the weight and weighed half a pound under the title limit of 155 lbs, putting all concerns to rest before his UFC 280 matchup against Islam Makhachev. Oliveira had previously missed weight six separate times, so making the weights was a big concern for him.
However, ahead of UFC 280, Charles Oliveira was seen running onto the scale as he made weight hours before the official weigh-in. Soon after, Islam Makhachev also made the weight making the fight official for UFC 280.

Moreover, Alexander Volkanovski, the Main event’s backup fighter, weighed exactly 155 pounds at the time. But it appears that the featherweight champion would have to watch this match from the sidelines and wait longer for his shot at the championship.
