“Beat Islam and then challenge him,” Charles Oliveira to pursue a super fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov

Charles Oliveira- Khabib Nurmagomedov

Charles Oliveira is fed up with people still looking past him and seems now he is on a parade to shut his doubters up, even if it means calling out retired fighters. Oliveira, currently the #1 lightweight and the former UFC Lightweight champion lost his belt only due to weighing just 0.5 lbs more than the championship weight. Oliveira last fought at the same time when he missed weight, submitting #3 ranked lightweight Justin Gaethje in the very first round in the main event of UFC 274.

Oliveira had a rough start in his UFC career where he first went 10-8 but then went 11-0 as soon as he hit his prime time. Oliveira has won over the likes of Gaethje, Jim Miller, Kevin Lee, Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, Jared Gordan, Will Brooks, Myles Jury, Jeremy Stephens and many more. Oliveira also has the record for the most finishes as well as the most submission wins in UFC history, the latter record being previously held by UFC 1 winner, Royce Gracie and this broke after 25 long years.

Charles Oliveira believes Khabib Nurmagomedov has been talking too much lately

Khabib wants his pupil Islam to fight Charles in Brazil

In an interview with Ag. Fight, a frustrated Oliveira finally decided to put his thoughts about fighting #4 ranked lightweight Islam Makhachev despite Oliveira constantly suggesting Makhachev fight the next rightful contender for the title shot which is Beneil Dariush. Makhachev has been backed by his mentor and UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov to be deserving of his title shot, the latter also claiming that Makhachev can beat Oliveira with ease. So Oliveira has called out Khabib as well in his words stated below.

“Look, I won’t say I’m going to submit or knock him out, but I’ll beat him. Listen to this, I will beat Islam Makhachev, says Oliveira “The division’s problem is called Charles Oliveira. That’s the division’s problem. It doesn’t matter what they say… I’ll beat him (Makhachev). So who knows, maybe you come out of retirement and come too?!…

If it’s to talk, I’m gonna say it. I’ll beat Islam Makhachev and then challenge Khabib to come back from retirement. It’s the fight everyone will want to see. Isn’t that what everyone will want to see? Everyone says Khabib is f****** tough. I respect him a lot, but lately, he’s been talking too much, concludes Oliveira. [h/t MMA Fighting]

What do you make of Oliveira’s outrageous callout for initially Makhachev but eventually for Nurmagomedov as well? Do you think Oliveira can beat the undefeated Nurmagomedov? Can Oliveira beat Makhachev? Both Makhachev and Nurmagomedov are seasoned grapplers with the latter being the best MMA wrestler in UFC history, but Oliveira has also proved himself to be the best BJJ fighter in history as well. Any fight with Oliveira against anyone amongst both the Russian fighters will be a grappling masterclass for the ages to come.
