Chase Hooper calls out Claudio Puelles after his win in UFC Vegas 82
Chase Hooper pulled off his most impressive win in UFC Vegas 82. He won against Jordan Leavitt by submitting him in the very first round. The fight went back and forth as both the fighters scrambled their way to get the dominant position. Finally, Hooper took advantage of Leavitt’s mistake and landed on a rear naked choke. After this win, he called out Claudio Puelles.
In the post-fight press conference, Hooper showed interest in fighting someone with grappling prowess, such as Claudio Puelles. He said that two grapplers going at each other would be a fun matchup. He mentioned that it wouldn’t be as boring as a wrestler controlling his opponent since grapplers always scramble and look for submission. Here is what he said:
I would like someone like a Claudio Puelles. Still, I would like to fight another guy that's big into leg locks, another big Jiu-Jitsu guy in the division. Tonight is a perfect example of those are fun matchups and I think they are fun to watch... It's not just the wrestling and holding for position, like scrambling the whole time, looking for subs, and yeah! I think that would be a fun one.Chase Hooper via post fight press conference
Claudio Puelles tore through the division’s unranked fighters with his leg lock threats. However, he lost to Dan Hooker in his last fight. Since Chase Hooper was interested in a leg-lock guy, Puelles would be the perfect opponent as he has three knee-bar finished in the UFC. Also, Hooper faced Puelles in a grappling match earlier, which he won by a calf slicer. Anyway, he said this would be a fun matchup and was interested in it.
