Ever since Sean O’Malley won the bantamweight title, the question on everyone’s lips remained on his first opponent. Marlon “Chito” Vera stands out from many potential opponents. Furthermore, the first thing O’Malley did after he beat Aljamain Sterling to win the title was call out Vera.

When Chito began acting like he had the upper hand, Suga attempted to remind him of his options and threatened to replace him with Henry Cejudo. In a recent podcast interview on Fight SZN, a host asked Vera about his opinion on O’Malley threatening to replace him. Chito said,” I’m just cool as a cucumber. Working hard, getting better. If it happens, epic! If not, kid, go and s**k a d**k”.

O’Malley has only lost once in his UFC career. Marlon Vera shocked the world in 2020 when he temporarily stopped the hype train of Sean O’Malley. Furthermore, it looks like Suga wants to avenge the only blemish on his otherwise flawless UFC record. Subsequently, Vera believes that O’Malley needs the rematch more than him.

Hence, Vera remains calm, knowing that he could get the next title shot due to the result of their previous fight. Furthermore, if the fight happens, it will be the biggest payday of Vera’s career.

Suga got knocked out in the first round by Chito Vera at the co-main event of UFC 252. It was the first professional defeat of O’Malley’s career. The victory brought more popularity to Vera, and he started to climb the rankings of the bantamweight division.

Sean O’Malley injured his leg, which allowed Vera to finish him off. Vera took advantage of the injury and landed brutal strikes to end the bout. After the loss, O’Malley refused to accept defeat but plotted his way to the title.

A few days after his loss, O’Malley went on his podcast to talk about the fight. Three years later, Suga captured the bantamweight title and Vera remains a top contender in the division. The rematch has the potential to be even bigger than their previous fight.
