Ciryl Gane, Tai Tuivasa verbally agreed on a heavyweight battle in a potentially first-ever UFC Paris fight card
Ciryl Gane- Tai Tuivasa
Former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane may pose the biggest threat to Tai Tuivasa who, safe to say, has entered his prime time now. Gane last fought at UFC 270 when he was finally defeated on the way of his undefeated run in the UFC and overall career when his former teammate and current undisputed heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou handed him a unanimous decision loss. Regardless, Gane is known for his wins over Alexander Volkov, Junior Dos Antos, Derrick Lewis and many more.
Tuivasa on the other hand is coming off the biggest victory of his career in his ongoing 5 fight winning streak when he defeated the knockout artist Derrick Lewis via spectacular knockout himself. Tuivasa and Gane are two differently styled strikers so it’s quite obvious to expect the fight to be on the feet and therefore may go for either a spectacular finish or an awesome fight. Tuivasa so far has won over, Lewis, Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, Stephan Struve, Andrei Arlovski, and many more.
More on Ciryl Gane vs Tai Tuivasa fight in works for UFC in Paris
As first confirmed by ESPN Correspondent Brett Okamoto via officials. Both Gane and Tuivasa have verbally agreed to fight each other on September 3, 2022, and the fight might most probably happen in Paris. If it does happen in Paris, this will be UFC’s first trip to France. Gane has already made history on behalf of his country when he became the first French UFC champion (interim) when he defeated Derrick Lewis at UFC 265.
Gane is ranked #1 and Tuivasa who was formerly ranked #11 before Derrick Lewis, jumped 8 numbers up to #3 after the knockout win. Gane is a technical striker who likes to set up his strikes with feints and angle changes and mix it up with his Muay Thai style of using hands, kicks, elbows and knees. However, Gane is prepared to submit his opponents as well when needed.
Tuivasa on the other hand has 13 of his 14 wins via knockouts. Tuivasa has a vicious knockout power in his hands and just needs to throw like a brawler in order to get the job done. Who do you think wins this fight once it is a deal on paper? And who do you think the winner should be fighting next? Certainly, this might even put the winner in a position to challenge for the heavyweight title.
