Cody “No Love” Garbrandt had a mixed response to “Suga” Sean O’Malley becoming the UFC bantamweight champion. He praised O’Malley’s success and noted vulnerabilities in his fighting style. It came as a surprise for many fans as Garbrandt constantly talked trash to Suga.

On the Believe You Me podcast, Garbrandt expressed happiness for Sean O’Malley‘s championship win. He mentioned that while O’Malley holds the title, Garbrandt expected his weaknesses to become more apparent over time. Garbrandt advised allowing O’Malley to enjoy his victory and recent accomplishments against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292. Garbrandt said, “I’m happy for Sugar Sean. I think it’s great he’s a champion in our division, I think he has a lot of holes and weaknesses that are going to be exposed a lot. but right now, let him enjoy the championship and what he was able to do on Saturday night.” (H/T Clutch Points)

Garbrandt acknowledged O’Malley’s ability to handle the hype and pressure, citing his composure. He contrasted this with Sterling’s grappling focus, contributing to his loss. Garbrandt noted that Aljamain Sterling’s strategy allowed O’Malley (a skilled counter-striker) to capitalize on an opportunity. Garbrandt sits outside the top 15 rankings and has a 2-5 record since winning the championship in 2016. Cody Garbrandt recognized the substantial effort required to return to bantamweight title contention. Despite his current position, he remains hopeful about his upcoming fights. He believes in overcoming his flaws and turning a new page in his career.

T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt had one of the best rivalries in UFC. The teammates turned enemies fought two times in the UFC, with Dillashaw emerging victorious on both occasions. “No Love” spoke about his feelings towards Dillashaw. Speaking on the Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping, Garbrandt jokingly said that Dillashaw has not unblocked him on social media.

Garbrandt wished to be on cordial terms with Dillashaw. Their rivalry stemmed from their time together at Team Alpha Male. Dillashaw left the team unexpectedly, making Urijah Faber and Cody Garbrandt question his loyalty. Garbrandt and Dillashaw are not in touch, and with “No Love” showing a lot of maturity in the interview, everything will be water under the bridge.

The former bantamweight champion will now be looking to try a hand at stem cell treatment in Columbia. With Ali Abdelaziz closely looking to put Garbrandt back in title contention, the 32-year-old former champion still has a chance to get the belt that once belonged to him.
