Professional fighting is not something a person can endure for their entire life. There comes a time when they have to hang up the gloves. With that, a new chapter begins in their life. Colby Covington has stated his desire to pursue politics after his MMA career. Covington is well-known for supporting former US President Donald Trump and has been outspoken about his political beliefs throughout his fighting career.

Despite his continuous devotion to MMA, Covington expressed his long-term ambition of entering politics. He indicated a desire to give back to the state of Florida once he decides to hang up his gloves. This is what he had to say:

I do want to get into politics one day because I want to fight for what I believe in. I want to get into Congress, maybe the Senate, something like that. Maybe be the governor of Florida. That would be my ultimate dream is to be governor of this state.

Covington lost to UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296. He stated that he was not ready to retire from fighting just yet. During an interview, he emphasized the significance of being totally involved in his fighting career and underlined his opinion that he is still one of the world’s top fighters. Covington emphasized his recent encounter with Edwards only motivared his drive to compete at the greatest level.

Colby Covington blamed his unanimous decision defeat to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 on the judges’ political prejudice against him. He believed that this was because he supported former President Donald Trump. In the post-fight news conference, Covington stated that the judges have never favored him because of his support for Trump.

During an appearance on Fox News, Covington elaborated that the judges allegedly loaded the deck against him. He argued that the judge’s bias, which he blamed on his political position, cost him the championship bout.

Covington emphasized having more strikes and the same amount to the head and five minutes more control time. Furthermore, he stated that he broke his foot in the first 30 seconds of the bout. This happened when Edwards’ elbow deflected his kick.

Covington’s assertion that judges are biased because of his political ideas has prompted debate and differing viewpoints among fans and analysts. While he maintains his position, the issue of judges’ roles in MMA decisions remains a source of debate in the combat sports industry.
