Colby Covington fights Leon Edwards at UFC 296 for the welterweight title. Ahead of the fight, he shared his interest in fighting the middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Recently, ‘Chaos’ developed a hatred towards Strickland and went after him for his conservative thoughts about women and other stuff. As such, he challenged Strickland to debate with his friend Candace Owens.

Sean Strickland was known for his unfiltered outspoken character. However, it didn’t always serve him the best. As such, Colby Covington criticized his views on women and bashed him for the same. Further, he was confident that his friend and political commentator Candace Owens would defeat him in an argument about the same. Here is what he said:

The guy said that women only belong in the kitchen. If you told that to my friend Candace Owens, she would literally run circles around him and make him look like the amateur jabroni that he is.

Candace Owens was a longtime supporter of Donald Trump and hence befriended Colby Covington as they shared the same interests. She was also seen at the arena when ‘Chaos’ took on Kamaru Usman in UFC 245. As such, Covington put her name in front of Strickland as he voiced out women to be put in the kitchen. Also, ‘Chaos’ mentioned that Strickland was an easy fight and would love to knock him out.

Colby Covington last faced Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. But it was in March 2022 and Covington hadn’t fought since. However, ‘Chaos’ would enter the octagon this weekend after a 21-month hiatus. He takes on Leon Edwards in an attempt to attain the undisputed welterweight championship.

Sean Strickland responds to Colby Covington’s aspirations of fighting him

In a recent interview, Colby Covington trashed middleweight champion Sean Strickland and expressed his wish to fight him. The two shared different political beliefs and had differences in opinion. As such, ‘Chao’s didn’t hold back in getting after Strickland for his conservative views and unfiltered opinions. Now, the middleweight champion fired back at Covington.

Sean Strickland in a recent tweet trolled Colby Covington and stated that he wouldn’t fight him and that the only thing he could do was call the cops for help. He also referred to Covington’s past instances of withdrawing from confrontations and mocked him. He mentioned the incident of ‘Chaos’ suing Jorge Masvidal and a long-forgotten incident with Fabricio Werdum.

With the animosity between Colby Covington and Sean Strickland, the thought of matching them was welcomed by the MMA world. However, ‘Chaos’ has to get through Leon Edwards in UFC 296 first. Also, Sean Strickland has a fight lined up against Dricus Du Plessis headlining the UFC 297 fight card in January 2024.
