Colby “Chaos” Covington incurred a resounding defeat at the hands of reigning champion Leon Edwards, at UFC 296. His lounging and sluggish pounding garnered much heat, even during the matchup. Correspondingly, the judges unanimously scored in favor of the British Edwards (49-46). Now, the 17-4 welterweight had induced close friend Donald Trump into the conversation, defending his skid.

Outgrappled heavily by the opponent, Colby Covington, however, remains non-aggravated. In classic Covington fashion, he is even of the opinion that judge bias is what yielded the result. “Chaos” indifferently also prompted that it is his association with the 2024 Republican Nominee Trump that caused such segregational bias. At the post-fight presser, he said:

I thought the third, fourth and fifth round were mine...The fifth was mine, easily. ... He didn’t put any damage on me. He got a couple of low kicks, but then I started checking them at the end, so I thought I had the win and did enough, but the judges never favor me. They hate me because I support Trump, and everybody hates Trump in this building, so it is what it is. Life goes on...

Trump and him have been close acquaintances for very long. He even dedicated the title contention to his renomination and the “MAGA” movement. But the skidding 169lber was heavily flacked for his “self-denial” as he refuted his loss straight away. One prime reaction said – “Just like Trump, can’t take the L “.

This was alluding to the 45th president’s run in office. Trump had heavily refuted his 2020 loss in the election polls. Succeeding which there was special counsel reproaches established that Russia had interfered in 2016 to boost Trump’s campaign beforehand. Accordingly, “Chaos” caught a lot of heat for the same now.

Colby Covington calls out Stephen Thompson after both their losses

Colby Covington suffered a title loss at UFC 296. With a successful title retention, Leon “Rocky” Edwards provided the fighter with a fitting fumble. Covington had talked big game, leading up to the square-off but provided a laid-back and slow performance against the British welterweight. Now, speaking at the UFC 296 post-fight conference, he has mentioned that he would not serve excuses. He has added that is “not the cloth that I was cut from“; conversely, the fighter has already moved on.

Covington has chosen Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson as his next opponent. Thompson, who performed in the same fight card this weekend, also suffered a career skid. This move has not attracted immense appreciation. See how one fan countered the proposition in a tweet.

Thompson, at 40, is a karate practitioner, who coaches at Ray Thompson’s Upstate Karate™. A few kickbacks to Covington’s callout have thus nudged in that this is the only opponent a bit past his prime that he can hope to wrestle down.
