Colby Covington has a way with words that many in the UFC now envy. “Chaos” is a master at getting under his opponents’ skins with trash talk and insults.
And this certainly worked gangbusters during his win over Tyron Woodley. In the buildup to that fight during an interview with Megan Olivi, Colby Covington took shots at Tyrone Woodley’s rap ventures. “The biggest thing I need to be cautious of when I step into the octagon with Tyrone Woodley is if he starts rapping in the octagon. And lemme just give you a piece of advice Megan if he starts doing that run away from the building.”
Covington ended up winning the fight by 5th round TKO. He outstruck Woodley on significant strikes, landing 2 two times as many as him. Ultimately, Covington’s words seemed like a spoiler after his dominance during the fight. And this fight would also end up being Woodley’s penultimate fight in the UFC with him leaving the promotion after his loss to Vicente Luque.
Woodley would, however, go on to continue his career in rap, even dropping a diss track on rival Jake Paul. And as for Covington, he has only fought twice after the Woodley fight and is in 1-1 in those fights.
Colby Covington was congratulated by Donald Trump for his win over Tyron Woodley
After the fight, during an interview with Megan Anderson, Colby Covington received a call from then-President of the United States, Donald Trump. He congratulated Chaos on his victory over Tyron Woodley. And Chaos told Trump that after shaking his hand at a rally, he was extremely motivated to go out there and get the win.
The former POTUS said to Covington, “That was easy work, relatively easy work for you. I’m proud of you, man. I’m really proud of you.” Trump also told Colby that he rushed home in order to watch the bout after delivering a speech to 35000 people. And when asked whether Woodley was tough, Colby responded, “Yeah, strong guy, former champion but it didn’t matter who was in there, Mr. President.”
Colby then told Trump that he would be bringing the UFC welterweight title over to the Oval Office if Trump was reelected and Covington managed to get the strap off of Usman. However, as it would turn out, neither man would get the win they were after as Colby lost to Usman while Trump ended up losing to Joe Biden.
