Ian Garry and Colby Covington’s beef has heated up in the past months. Both the fighters have openly shown their disdain for each other. However, the highly anticipated grudge match seems to be hanging in the balance. Despite Garry’s fiery call-outs and attempts to secure the bout, Covington has yet to sign the contract, according to the rising welterweight star.

Garry was recently interviewed by Nik Hobbs from Sky Sports. Garry expressed frustration over Colby Covington’s reluctance to commit to the fight. He instructed the host to ask ‘Chaos’ when he questioned the status of the potential match. This is what he said further:

I'm the one who called him out in the octagon. I'm the one who's been hounding the UFC. He hasn't said yes. That's it. It's on him. He hasn't signed no contract. It's on him.

Ian Garry was adamant about his desire to face Covington. Covington had verbally attacked Garry’s wife as well. The brash Irishman saw the bout as an opportunity to end Covington’s career. This would further solidify the Irishman’s position as a top contender.

Covington might or might not have accept the fight. Only UFC CEO Dana White or someone like Hunter Campbell can confirm or deny the statement. However, he did list odd rules for a matchup to happen. One might think Covington has some reluctance considering the stipulation. The Garry vs. Covington match would make for a fascinating encounter. Covington has a controversial persona and elite wrestling skills – a major test for rising Irish star Garry.

Garry’s bold challenge not only targeted Covington’s fighting spirit but also his political allegiance. As a vocal supporter of Trump, Covington has often intertwined his MAGA ideology with his combat sports persona. Garry vowed to make him quit in front of his idol. This is what Garry said:

I’m going to make Colby say (‘I quit’)...I’m going to point his face at Donald Trump, and I’m going to be like, ‘Say it – say it to your president. Don’t say it to me. Say it to Trump.

The potential clash between Garry and Covington has simmered for months. Both men exchanged verbal jabs and insults across various platforms. The likelihood of such a stipulation being accepted remains uncertain.
