Conor McGregor savagely trolls Islam Makhachev for making fun of Jon Jones’s pound-for-pound rankings. In the build-up to UFC 294, Makhachev engaged in a pre-media session where he talked about the essential mindset of a champion. With Alex Volkanovski replacing Charles Oliveira for the main event, the fighter emphasized the necessity of embracing any challenge, irrespective of the surrounding conditions.
Things took an interesting turn when Makhachev criticized the UFC’s top pound-for-pound fighter, Jon Jones. He alleged that Jones had evaded a confrontation with Chael Sonnen in the past, casting doubt on Jones’ claim to the number one spot in the pound-for-pound rankings.
The Dagestani’s comments on Jones attracted a lot of attention and Conor McGregor was one of them who didn’t hold back in his response to the fighter. He wrote on X, “This guy is a gumbeen. This is what happens when cousins have s*x and have a child together. This is the result.”
McGregor and Jon Jones have always had a good relationship and both often credit each other for their respective achievements. It seems like the Irishman couldn’t take any criticism from Jon Jones, especially from Makhachev, who is so closely connected to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Alexander Volkanovski is looking forward to finish Islam Makhachev in the rematch
Alexander Volkanovski is determined to avenge his sole UFC loss as he prepares for a highly anticipated rematch with Makhachev. This much-anticipated event is set to take place as the main attraction at UFC 294, which is slated for the upcoming Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
The featherweight champion is stepping into the fight on short notice, hoping to avenge a narrow decision defeat to Makhachev at UFC 284 in February. However, this time the fighter plans to finish the fight inside the cage and not involve the judges.
In a recent media interview, Alex Volkanovski expressed his excitement, stating that he wants to go out there and hurt his opponent. He aims to avoid going five rounds and wishes to finish the fight early. Volk has no plans to test his opponent’s gas tank. He believes he can do it, but he prefers to finish the fight nice and early.
