There was a time when every word that came out of Conor McGregor’s mouth was pure venom that affected the deepest part of his opponents’ morale in the lead-up to the fight. Nowadays it’s more hit and a miss but when he does shoot straight, he often ends up grabbing all the headlines for the day.
Today Conor was on another one of his Twitter hunting sprees and he took aim at one of the most unassuming lightweights on the roster, Beneil Dariush. Dariush who entered the top 5 after a victory over former interim champion Tony Ferguson, also made headlines dufring his octagon interview calling out, not fighters but the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk, asking him to deliver a car that he ordered on December 2020 and was yet to be delivered by June. Musk came through and provided Dariush with a temporary replacement car to work with until his order came through.
This is many people’s eyes was a brilliant move by Beneil to further his own name in the media as he gets closer to title contention. Well, not in the eyes of Conor McGregor.

Due to the state of the lightweight division with many contenders and no champion everyone who is eligible is trying to stake their claim. As Charles Oliveira was demoted from the rank of a champion because of his weight miss at UFC274, he is the number one contender, and Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush are fighting hard to get that second vacancy in the upcoming championship bout. Islam has a promoter in Khabib to do this, while Beneil has to work up his own way. He chose to attack Charles Oliveira to be on the right path.
Dariush has recently gained flak for claiming Charles ducked him and has not faced any real contenders since earning his Championship. This bought on the wrath of the MMA community on Dariush and Conor McGregor joined the fray. On a deleted tweet McGregor said, “Beneil Dariush is the biggest nobody in the company”
