Conor McGregor gave an expert analysis of the UFC 293 main event result. Conor McGregor has not fought since 2021 but continues to analyze the fight game. Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya headlined the event in Australia. Strickland outpointed Adesanya to a unanimous decision win.
McGregor is known to chime in on live UFC events. This is an indication of his passion for MMA. Following Sean Strickland’s upset victory, he posted on X, “The “spar only” method crowns the new ufc middleweight world champion. Well done Sean. Unlucky Izzy. What a company! @ufc is King.” Conor McGregor is the highest-paid UFC athlete and occupies the paramount position on the pay scale in MMA. Adesanya, along with Jon Jones, Alexander Volkanovski, and Islam Makhachev occupies the second tier.
Israel Adesanya was the heavy favorite, but Sean Strickland was a man on a mission. Strickland dropped Adesanya with a quick one-two punch in the first round in the final minute. Adesanya came back aggressively in the second round to make it even. However, Strickland kept Adesanya on his heels in the last three rounds, winning four rounds on all the judge’s scorecards.
The win for Strickland is a big blow for Dricus Du Plessis, who was the original opponent for Adesanya at UFC 293. It remains to be seen whether Adesanya gets an immediate rematch. He already got a rematch in his previous bout. The winner of Paolo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev is presumably next for Strickland. Chimaev has trained with Strickland at Extreme Couture in the past.

Anderson Silva vs. Michael Bisping was what Sean Strickland wanted in his fight with Israel Adesanya. It became more than that as Strickland outclassed the credentialed Kickboxer in Adesanya. Adesanya’s coach, Danny Davis Jr. had initially warned Adesanya of the danger that Strickland possesses in striking.
The polar opposite fighters showered respect on each other as expected after the fight. In his post-fight speech, Strickland thanked the crowd in Australia for cheering him on. He said that the cheering from fans enabled him to move forward against Adesanya. Strickland also remarkably referenced him giving brain cells to MMA gods to attain victory.
The upset victory will be known for a long time. Fighting a dominant champion on his home turf is a challenging task. Interestingly, Strickland enjoyed the crowd support in the bout. Strickland won over the audience with his amazing trash talk. Strickland was close to a plus-500 underdog in the fight. Another interesting fact is that UFC 193 and UFC 293 ended in an upset. Both events happened in Australia.
