UFC superstar Conor McGregor is on the verge of returning to the UFC after a 2-year layoff due to a leg injury. But, during the break, the Irish superstar was still capturing spotlights for his stardom. Recently, McGregor paid tribute to a foundation called Tunnel To Towers.
This foundation is known for supporting America’s first responders and military heroes, many of whom were involved in the 9/11 incident. Conor posted on his X to pay tribute. He said, “Such a solemn day that the world can never forget. @Tunnel2Towers do amazing work every day to support those who are real heroes. I am so proud to support them.”
Recently, the foundation has delivered free homes to 22 of America’s military heroes. On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the incident, this special gesture came into play. The foundation has done great work helping out army veterans and supporting the families of the nation’s fallen heroes. Their good deed has caught the eye of the Irish UFC star. And Conor McGregor wasn’t reluctant to thank the organization for its constant service.
Conor McGregor has previously shown support for many good causes and charities. Many fans look up to him and the examples he sets in society. But his admiration for charities will never go unnoticed. Further, the Irishman will be looking forward to getting back in the octagon by the end of the year. McGregor will reportedly face his TUF rival coach Michael Chandler in his UFC return.
Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler agree to a middleweight bout
After UFC 293, Conor McGregor tweeted on his UFC return. The Irishman hinted towards getting back in the octagon but at 185 pounds. Further, his rival and speculated opponent Michael Chandler also gave his approval to the middleweight bout.
A fight at middleweight between these two could sound unrealistic for MMA fans. Both Chandler and McGregor usually fight at lightweight, i.e. 155 pounds. But even then, both fighters look ready to take on the challenge. After McGregor’s tweet, Chandler showed his approval by saying that a middleweight fight would be great as it requires less weight cutting.
On The Ultimate Fighter 31, both fighters agreed to fight at 170. But this new twist is going to leave a lot of fans puzzled. The fans are waiting for the UFC’s announcement of the fight. An official notice could lead to confirmation of the weight class the fighters will fight in. Rumors also suggest that the fight could take place in late December of 2023 or early 2024.
