Conor McGregor might move to the middleweight division as Sean Strickland becomes the new champion. The UFC 293 main event was a shocker for fight fans after Strickland dominated Izzy and won the fight via unanimous decision. Going into the fight, Strickland was never the favorite, but after the first knockdown from ‘Tarzan’, it became very interesting.
Sean Strickland’s defense was too much for Izzy and the Nigerian failed to defend his title. Fight fans and experts were surprised and it was the same with Conor McGregor. The Irishman credited Strickland for his unconventional method of fighting and talked about Izzy being unlucky.
Moreover, Conor McGregor replied to a tweet made by a fan about the fighter moving up to 185. McGregor confidently revealed that he would love to do that in the future.
He wrote, “No mess, I’d fancy it.” The fighter also shared a recent picture of him fully buffed up and close to making 185 pounds in the future. Gone are the days when McGregor used to fight at 155. If he comes back, fans predict that he will definitely fight in the welterweight division. If McGregor makes his mind up, the middleweight division is not that far away, but fighting there could be tough.
Conor McGregor credits Laura Sanko for her commentary during UFC 293
Conor McGregor has shared his candid thoughts about Laura Sanko’s commentary on the UFC 293 pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast. UFC 293 signifies a huge moment in the UFC’s contemporary history, as it will feature a female commentator, namely Sanko, for the first time during a UFC PPV broadcast.
McGregor was highly impressed by Laura Sanko‘s commentary and made a tweet talking about how much he liked it. He wrote, “Sanko is incredible! “Spins the chin but nothin’ doin’” Love it. Incredibly refreshing addition! Hats off to the whole @ufc crew! Stellar this evening is! Bravo! Only getting better! What a machine!“
Sanko made her initial appearance as an on-screen figure in the UFC back in 2016. The former athlete from Chicago began her journey as a backstage interviewer and later shifted to the position of a UFC analyst. Sanko made her first commentary appearance on the UFC main roster during the UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Spivak event in February 2023. But this time, he did it for the first time in a PPV event, which turned out great.
