Dillon Danis claims he could take on Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou

Dillon Danis is a notable grappler and the Jiu-Jitsu trainer of Conor McGregor. Ever since his collaboration with McGregor, he has been a controversial figure. His most noted altercation was with Khabib Nurmagomedov, after UFC 229. Having been away from professional fighting for years, Danis is now set to face Logan Paul in an upcoming boxing match.

Before the two have even faced off, there have been a lot of heated arguments on the internet. The trash talking of Danis is also quite popular amongst MMA circles. In a recent interview, Dillon Danis outrageously claimed that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou had refused to take a fight against him.

He further declared that he could even face Jon Jones and that Jones did not want to fight him. “Heavyweights are normally terrible”, Danis said. At his best, he would be in the welterweight division. Assuming Danis would be able to dominate fighters two weight classes above him was quite shocking for MMA fans.

However, the combat career of Danis does not support his statements. With a grappling record showing 5 wins and 4 losses, it’s difficult to be convinced. The MMA career of Danis is also only two fights long. Ngannou and Jones have a fighting resume that goes beyond that of any fighter.

A fight between Danis and Paul is scheduled for October this year. This will be his first professional boxing match. The event is a double headliner, with KSI and Tommy Fury also being in the same event. McGregor has publicly stated that he would be training Danis for this upcoming bout. Although the latter hasn’t competed in a bout since 2019, he has been occasionally involved in altercations.

In the world of combat sports, many special talents have been wasted, and Dillon Danis could be next. He was a top prospect in the grappling field and even made a great debut in Bellator. Danis became the jiu-jitsu trainer for Conor McGregor for the rematch with Nate Diaz. Being linked with McGregor naturally meant he would be under intense spotlight. Danis further got himself into trouble with Khabib Nurmagomedov and other fighters too.

Dillon Danis has been active since his last fight in 2019. His upcoming fight with Logan Paul has surely brought him back into the limelight. The boxing bout is scheduled for October of this year and is highly anticipated by fans. Danis needs to take this as an opportunity to make a comeback. Fighting Paul will give him a lot of credit, but beating him could even save his career.
