Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are intertwined for life as their rivalry eclipsed anything ever seen before and is still not over. Usman Nurmagomedov is the cousin of “The Eagle.” Recently, he failed a drug test putting his Bellator Lightweight championship in jeopardy.
The news broke out and was met with a lot of reactions. As expected, Conor McGregor quickly provided his take on the matter. Interestingly, McGregor used the moment to ridicule Team Khabib by singing the Arabic verse of the English translation, ‘God Willing‘ in an anglicized way in a voice note. The Irishman kept singing, “Insha Alla my lord,” on social media.
Team Khabib is very religious and is known to say ‘Insha Allah’ in their speech. McGregor, known for controversial remarks, thus did what he did best. Nevertheless, the voice note was deleted, as is the norm for McGregor after controversial tweets.
McGregor went on a social media rant after the news. The former double champion even accused the entire team from Dagestan as PED users. It must be noted that the current champion of the UFC, Islam Makhachev, had a similar issue with USADA. Bobby Green has vocally expressed foul play about it since their fight night main event clash.
The California State Atheltic Commission suspended Usman Nurmagomedov for six months for a failed drug test. Andy Foster, executive director of the Commission, confirmed that Nurmagomedov used prescribed medication and forgot to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption.
The fighter later confirmed via social media that he provided proof to shorten the suspension to 6 months. Foster did not specify the name of the banned substance found in Nuramgomedov’s sample.
Conor McGregor accused Team Khabib of hypocrites after Usman Nurmagomedov’s failed drug test
The news of Usman Nuramgomedov failing a drug test went like wildfire. The reason for the news getting traction is the last name of the Bellator Lightweight champion. However, it must be noted that Usman Nurmagomedov was under medication with a valid doctor’s prescription.
Nevertheless, it did not stop Conor McGregor from going on a social media rant accusing Team Khabib of being hypocrites. The tweets have since been deleted. In one of the tweets, this is what he said:
I am not one bit surprised upon hearing another of the nurmagomedov team testing positive for steroids. Hypocrites of the highest order.Conor McGregor via X.
McGregor’s distaste for Nurmagomedov stemmed from his controversial fight at UFC 229 against Khabib Nurmagomedov. The fight is notorious for the post-fight melee after “The Eagle” jumped off the fence to attack Dillon Danis in McGregor’s corner. Moreover, McGregor was attacked by Zubaira Tukhugov and Esed Emiragaev, who were in the corner of Nurmagomedov.
