Conor McGregor has made plenty of errors in the past. His latest failures with his team at The Ultimate Fighter against Team Michael Chandler have affected the Irishman significantly. The latest loss against Chandler was when push went to shove for McGregor.
“The Notorious One” has had multiple losses recently, whether in his reputation with the law or his credibility as an MMA coach. Although McGregor seems like he’s brushing off all the backlash with his posts on social media and public statements, the fans can see otherwise. Anyone would end up frustrated and despairing when trying to defend themselves against the world on a sensitive matter.
Conor McGregor indicated such frustration in his latest tweet. The UFC star attached photos of him shoving Michael Chandler in the face from their recent face-off. In an episode of season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, McGregor shoved Chandler in frustration. Along with the linked images, McGregor wrote, “It’s official! Chandler is an idiot sandwich.” Conor doesn’t seem to have moved on from his confrontation with Chandler, even though many days have passed.
This does seem off for the fans, as Conor McGregor is not the type of fighter to hold onto altercations like this for too long. He has a history of creating new drama or moving on to the next topic. His recent failures took a toll on the fighter’s mannerisms and behavior.
Conor McGregor congratulates South Africa after Dricus Du Plessis’ win at UFC 290
UFC 290 gave the MMA world an exciting outcome, with South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis finishing the fight with UFC legend Robert Whittaker in a convincing fashion. Many experts and fans got shocked to see the matchup end like this. Du Plessis was considered a significant underdog going into the fight with a +265 odds against him. Nevertheless, the skills he displayed in the octagon were proof of his credibility and talent.
Conor McGregor commented on the Du Plessis fight by stating, “Huge congrats to South African MMA and South Africa, period!” McGregor also believed that the next fight for Dricus Du Plessis would be a challenge for the middleweight championship against Israel Adesanya. This seems to be the opinion of many fans after Dricus’s win against Whittaker and his face-off with Izzy toward the end of the event.
Regardless of whether Conor McGregor used the event to garner some love from the country of South Africa or not, his tweet giving them a shoutout does help their community. Dricus Du Plessis‘ win at UFC 290 is undeniably worthy of all the praise the fighter receives from fans and media.
