Conor McGregor’s recent documentary McGregor Forever is now streaming on Netflix all over the world. As expected McGregor fans are loving it and it’s getting a lot of attention. However, the ‘Irishman’ wanted to show something more deeper but revealed that he didn’t get any creative chance on the documentary.

McGregor recently did an interview with Oscar Wills on TheMacLife YouTube channel and during the conversation talked about his documentary. The Irishman mentioned that he considers himself a creator and eagerly wanted to be a part of the creative aspects of the documentary and show things in more depth. He said: “I had no creative control in it. I just would have liked my creative touch, I’m a creator. If I had my creative touch, I would have shown them in a deeper level.”

McGregor wasn’t impressed by the fact that his recovery journey from the broken leg was shown in a montage which he could have done differently. According to the ‘Mystic Mac’ it was incredible and if done the right way it had the potential to truly move people.

“The process of me coming back from this(broken leg), all the things that went on. It was kind of in a montage form in the end. That would have been a glorious thing for people to see. It would have lifted people off themselves,” said McGregor. In the end,the former UFC double champion accepted that he enjoyed the documentary but he himself could have added a lot more to it.

In the four episodes long documentary, director Gotham Chopra has successfully given the fans a wide view of McGregor’s personal and professional life. During the shoot of the whole documentary, Chopra was highly impressed by McGregor’s professionalism and dedication towards the sport.

“I’ve never seen anyone work harder,” Chopra told BBC Sport, referring to McGregor’s work in and out of the octagon.“He’s like a mad scientist, constantly trying to fine-tune things. Conor is wilful. He’s not just a masochist, he wanted to remove the shin pads so that he could feel where he was in the fight.”

The show has featured a lesser known side of McGregor with his family and kids in which the fighter takes a lot of pride. It has some of the darkest phases of McGregor life. Obviously, including the UFC 229 submission loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov which broke the fighter. On top of it the documentary has shown the Dustin Poirier fights and how the Irish broke his leg and later recovered from that injury.
