Conor McGregor made a claim that turned out to be false. He claimed that he was undefeated in rematches. Despite McGregor’s confident claim, fans quickly reminded him of his rematch and trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

McGregor’s statement about his flawless rematch record sparked a mix of amusement and irony from fans worldwide. One fan tweeted, “Bro with memory loss,” highlighting his trilogy with Dustin Poirier, where he lost the last two bouts. Poirier and McGregor initially clashed at featherweight, where the Louisiana native suffered a knockout defeat in the first round. Dustin Poirier won the rematch and trilogy fight at lightweight in 2021.

In MMA, the athletes’ words matter as much as their performances. McGregor is known to say false things on X (formerly Twitter). That is one way the Irishman made his name relevant during his time away from the octagon. After getting debunked, McGregor deleted the tweets.

McGregor’s next fight is most probably against Michael Chandler. Due to USADA rules, the fight might get moved to early 2024. However, Dana White remained confident in booking the fight for UFC 296. McGregor recently called out Justin Gaethje after “The Highlight” knocked out Dustin Poirier to win the BMF belt at UFC 291.
