Press conferences before a fight are always interesting in the UFC. A major highlight of such occasions is always verbal arguments. Amongst fighters trading words, very few do it like Conor McGregor. Hurling slurs and utterly mocking his opponents, McGregor does not hold back. Often cleverly humiliating his opponent, his “trash talking” shakes his opponent’s confidence.
His scheduled clash with Rafael Dos Anjos in UFC 197 also displayed his verbal skills. Dos Anjos said, “He will feel what a single tool in Jesus’ hands can do with him.” McGregor replied, “I’m cool with all the gods; gods recognize gods!” The fans expected this display of pride and superiority. Press conferences with McGregor have always been a hit. However, due to an injury on Dos Anjos, the scheduled fight did not happen. McGregor went on to fight Nate Diaz instead.
McGregor and his showmanship have created many iconic moments. His rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov is mentioned even today. A rivalry that was dangerous inside as well as outside the octagon. His activities outside the octagon are a major reason for his higher success. He has coined hilarious terms like “Red panty night,” referencing money that his bouts bring. Fighting McGregor is a privilege that indeed comes with a good fight purse.
McGregor’s next fight is set against Michael Chandler later this year. As was the case with previous opponents, Chandler is also verbally beaten. McGregor has already managed to attract massive attention for this bout.

Conor McGregor and his new Irish stout
Outside the octagon, Conor McGregor is a thriving businessman. His four million Lamborghini yacht stands as proof of his wealth. Keeping aside numerous sponsorships and heavy fight purses, McGregor has his ventures. He co-owns the fashion brand ‘August McGregor’ and owns ‘Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey’. McGregor’s latest release from his brewery would be the ‘Forged Irish Stout.’
McGregor’s skills of showmanship have boosted his business too. Proper No. 12 whiskey and his latest stout are a hit. The UFC and other combat sports, too, have always had wage-related issues. McGregor has broken through that cycle. He has successfully established an empire of his own.
McGregor is the head coach opposing Michael Chandler in The Ultimate Fighter. The upcoming fight between the two has seen many sparks already. It is scheduled to be held later this year.
