It’s been almost a month since Conor McGregor announced his return, without official promotion confirmation though. Ahead of the much-anticipated Michael Chandler fight, the fighter has gone viral several times. One such instance was him dropping his sparring partner in a resurfaced footage. At the very least, it looks like he may be on the verge of a fight shortly. The former 2-division champion recently shared his first sparring footage of 2024. Fans, however, are not too fond of the random tease.
This new year, ‘The Notorious’ took to social media to announce his comeback fight against Chandler, but with a twist. The fighter now wants to compete at middleweight with his TUF Season 31 opposition judge. McGregor has been on the sidelines since UFC 264 after breaking his leg. He has been keeping the fans apprised of his training as well, with the likes of his roundhouse training, BJJ accomplishments, and so on.

On Thursday, McGregor, infamous for his voice notes (on X) and training videos, released his first sparring video via his website, TheMacLife. Footage shows him and a partner working in both a ring and a cage while wearing boxer’s gloves. However, fans haven’t taken positively to the underwhelming discourse.
A prime reaction retorted “Bro is sparing some random carpenter he found on the streets.” On the shelf for over 30 months, the combat sports bubble has developed much angst about the fighter’s return to action. The matter has, therefore, gained quite a handful of reactions.
Fans react to Conor McGregor’s first training footage of 2024
Back on New Year’s Day, Conor McGregor took to social media to announce that he’s set to return to UFC on June 29 at International Fight Week in Las Vegas. He wished to face Michael Chandler, at what is supposedly to take shape as UFC 302.

Recently, Chandler himself confidently accepted Conor McGregor’s 185lbs challenge. But it is a more recent development that has fight fans riled up. The Dubliner uploaded a random training footage of him, putting in the works before his supposed return.
And here’s how fans have reacted to it –
Most fans have gibed at the minimalistic nature of the footage. A few have also shared insights on him ignoring basics and thus having a wobbly stance in the Octagon.
However, some have indulged the notion that many fighters have had minimalistic training before, despite a spectacular return later.
