“Most ATHLETIC fighter I have faced,” Cory Sandhagen speaks for the first time after insane UFC Vegas 60 win
Cory Sandhagen
Cory Sandhagen has just stolen the fans’ hearts with his returning performance against a highly dangerous athlete and we cannot wait for what’s next for him. Sandhagen returned last weekend after an 11-month layoff from fighting for improvement and defeated Song Yadong via doctor stoppage with a brilliant game plan. Sandhagen came out on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to talk about his insane win over Yadong, if Henry Cejudo deserves an immediate title shot in return and much more.
In the midst of all, Sandhagen confessed a huge interpretation of his fight with Yadong and it doesn’t come as a surprise for MMA fans, considering how fast and explosive Yadong is with his strikes and defensive wrestling.
“I haven’t faced anyone I feel like as athletic as he was,” says Sandhagen. “He did a really good job man, he did good like keeping really patient and then like, exploding on things, his hips were super strong. He was the athletic guy man, he always like had the sense of eeriness to him, that he was like getting ready to knock me out, you know…” he continued.
“Feels like getting hit by a truck,” says Cory Sandhagen on facing Song Yadong
Sandhagen also talked about his injuries coming from the Yadong fight and seems like much-needed physical therapy was inevitable for the former interim-bantamweight title challenger. “Feels like I got hit by a truck, like whole body is just, tired and swollen, my legs pretty swollen, my eye hurts a little bit…” he said.
Sandhagen has fought 2 former world champions and 1 current champion in his resume, namely Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw, and Aljamain Sterling respectively. But has fallen short against all three of them. So Sandhagen promises an evolved fighter from now on heading into the Octagon and in the Octagon interview last weekend, he said that he would be ready to fight in December as well. Regardless, he has won over the likes of Yadong, Frankie Edgar, Marlon Moraes, Raphael Assuncao, John Lineker and many more.
