“Attempted Assassination,” Dan Hardy thinks the unfair Nate Diaz vs Khamzat Chimaev fight will justify pressing charges on the UFC
Dan Hardy is disgusted by this move from the UFC
Dan Hardy is a true veteran of the sport, hence he is obviously not pleased with fellow veteran Nate Diaz being Scheduled against Khamzat Chimaev for his final fight. Hardy who had his last fight almost a decade ago, has been with the UFC since the days when fighters could make a living by plastering some sponsors onto their shorts. At a recent interview with Ariel Helwani he made his thoughts on the UFC 279 main event public.
The UFC after many months of back and forth finally decided to let Diaz be free of his contract in a bid to test his worth in the free market. However, as the UFC is known for it’s mob-like intimidation tactics and would certainly not let Diaz fight for another promotion with the Diaz aura to sell fights, they matched him up with Khamzat in a fight that makes little to zero sense.
Khamzat is a rising contender at Welterweight who has knockouts at middleweight, his natural weight. After his most recent fight with Gilbert Burns, Chimaev was all but certainly waiting in the rafters to see how the title fight between Leon and Usman turns out and challenges its winner. Diaz on the other hand has lost 2 of his last 3 fights and was on his way to face much easier competition in celebrity boxing, his prime target being Paul.
This was sentiment Dana agreed with just a few weeks ago, saying Diaz has no place at the top of the division considering his record, hence it makes no sense that the organization would book it’s top contender at that weight against him.
Dan Hardy hopes to see Nate Diaz come out unharmed against Khamzat Chimaev
On the latest MMA hour with Ariel Helwani, British MMA Legend, Dan Hardy had similar thoughts and was more strongly disgusted with the UFC for making this fight.
When asked by Helwani if he feels Nate can beat Khazmat, in no soft words Hardy said, “It just feels like we’re getting to the point that someone should think about pressing charges, it doesn’t feel like a fair fight, it just feels like a very cruel thing to do to someone who’s a legitimate legend. “
“Because they spoke out against the organization, they’re gonna get executed live on TV, that’s kind how it feels, and it makes me feel uncomfortable to think that’s the way it’s gonna go down, ” said Hardy as he expressed that he sincerely wishes that Nate walks out of the fight relatively alright.
“Yes Of course Nate’s got good Jiu jitsu, but there comes a point where great wrestling nullifies Jiu jitsu, it happened in the early days of the UFC and I think it’s gonna happen to Nate if it hits the ground” said Hardy, citi g early examples in Chimaev’s career where his wrestling overpowered his opponents by a considerable margin.
Hardy repeatedly talks about how the bout might get uncomfortable to watch while hoping that Diaz walks through it unscathed as he believes the Stockton native has massive opportunities outside the UFC.
Hardy also believed that if Diaz were to beat Khamzat, that it would be, “The most Diaz thing to do as you ride off, similing into the sunset”
