Dana has expressed interest in making the TUF season featuring Khabib and Tony happen
Dana White saw firsthand as Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov once terrified the lightweight division together. Khabib left his opponents gasping for air and looking helpless every time he took them down creating his untouched image in MMA, meanwhile, Tony was literally called The Boogeyman or more famously “El Cucuy” because of how relentless he was in pressuring you no matter how much damage you were able to land on him
With these two running the division it is all but given that a fight among them was all everyone in the community wanted but it seems like it was never meant to be.
The bout would undergo 5 total cancellations with the final one being due to a global pandemic and leaving this fight as the biggest “what if” in MMA history.
Dana White is Enthusiastic about TUF Season Starring Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov
Recently out of blue, Ferguson suggested that he and his Dagestani rival could settle their scores by coaching a season of the Ultimate Fighter. Nurmagomedov was intrigued by the idea and even offered to do it under his promotion, Eagle FC. Now the big boss Dana has given his approval too however he could have some ulterior motives.
In an interview with the spinning back fist podcast, Dana was asked of how he felt about the proposal. Legitimately confused, he asked, “You guys as fans or media are telling me you like the idea of 2 guys possibly coaching who would not end up fighting? “ Something that the Barstool panel responded to with a resounding yes. Robbie Fox then pointed out that the McGregor v Faber season of TUF was pretty memorable and they didn’t end up fighting either.
After a brief pondering, Dana said he’ll surely consider the idea. In the chatter that followed one of the hosts tried imagining how the bickering between Tony and Khabib might play out considering the years of built-up tension. To this White said, “I hope they piss each other off enough that they actually wanna fight each other”
Dana then confirmed that Robbie of Barstool had indeed sold him on the idea of the unique TUF season. The current season of TUF is not being recieved well despite two champions in Julianna Pena and current featherweight Champion, Amanda Nunes taking up the mantle of coaches in light of their highly anticipated rematch.
