Dana White criticized the CEO of the USADA, Travis Tygart after the two organizations severed ties last week. He compared Tygart’s actions to an unwarranted press release statement. He even equated it to going “full Britney Spears.” The statement was in reference to the mental struggles suffered by the pop star.
Travis Tygart released a controversial statement blaming Conor McGregor and Joe Rogan for the UFC not re-signing with the USADA. White responded to a press release issued by Tygart. The UFC CEO was at a bull riding event when giving the statement. White said of Tygart, “This guy went full Britney Spears and lost his mind. Get ready, we’ll probably gonna see this guy on Instagram dancing with knives or something. Probably be in the next two weeks or something. He went nuts, he lost his mind, it is what it is. Whatever.”
In response to Tygart’s statement, Jeff Novitzky and Hunter Campbell had already put out a press conference and announced a partnership with Drug-Free Sport International as the new anti-doping partner of the UFC. They announced that George Piro would have independent charge over the program. Piro is an acclaimed former FBI agent who had interrogated the deceased Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein.
The UFC-USADA split was announced days after Conor McGregor announced that he had joined the testing pool. McGregor has been out of action since UFC 264 where he broke his leg. It was during the main event fight against Dustin Poirier. The Irishman has allegedly used substances on the banned list of the USADA for recovery and hence removed himself from the pool after his injury.
UFC CEO, Dana White likened bull riders to UFC fighters but believes UFC fighters are the toughest on the planet
Dana White recently conversed with the media at a bull riding event. After detailing his issues with USADA, someone asked White about his interest in bull riding and bull riders. White also reminisced about him riding a bull after former welterweight champion, Matt Serra did it.
“Bull riding is so like fighting,” White said of the practice. He further remarked, “They are very very similar,” when detailing the toughness and durability that is needed for both bull riders and fighters alike. “Our athletes are literally the baddest humans on the planet,” said White when asked about bull riders being the toughest athletes. The UFC CEO in the past has declared fighters like Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones, and Francis Ngannou as the ‘baddest man on the planet’ on different occasions.
Outside the fight game, people know the UFC CEO for his many interests. Moreover, he notably runs the Dana White Slap Fighting Championship. This is much to the dismay of the majority of his UFC fighters. Dana White has also stated that the toughest people are in the Dana White Contender Series.
