Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. Pereira is known for his stoic demeanor and definitive striking. Despite his lack of fluency in English, Pereira has a huge fanbase. In the lead-up to UFC 295, CEO Dana White revealed why Pereira remains popular among the fans.
White talked about having a unique personality rather than imitating someone. Many fighters have followed in the footsteps of Conor McGregor. McGregor’s trash-talk and dressing style influenced many fighters. Thus, White credited Pereira for not following the McGregor way. In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports’ Caroline Pearce, he said:
I think that he does have charisma, it’s different than everybody else’s. He is a mean-looking mother****r. He is a scary dude...Dana White via TNT Sports
Many fighters such as Colby Covington, Kevin Lee, Kamaru Usman, Sean O’Malley, and Ian Garry have tried to emulate the personality of Conor McGregor. Dana White appreciated Pereira’s stoic approach and the decision to do the talking inside the octagon. He extended his deep-seated and underscoring notion that authenticity matters above all.
After defeating Prochazka at UFC 295, Pereira became the newest addition to the list of UFC double champions. Pereira previously held the middleweight belt. He has accomplished more in the fewest fights. This remains a unique feat and accomplishment in the history of the UFC.
Alex Pereira has a new accomplishment
The UFC celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12. Alex Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka in the hyped main event of UFC 295. With the win, Pereira became the first fighter to hold two division titles in the shortest fights. However, the record did not end there. He also holds a new record with the win over Prochazka.
In the UFC, Alex Pereira has defeated more champions than unranked fighters. Usually, when fighters enter the UFC, they fight unranked fighters before fighting ranked fighters and champions. However, so far, Pereira has fought four champions and only two unranked contenders in the UFC.
Pereira has wins over Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland, Jiri Prochazka and Jan Blachowicz. Strickland is the current middleweight champion and Adesanya is the former champion. Blachowicz and Prochazka both held the light heavyweight title in the UFC. This is a remarkable feat and Pereira remains the only fighter to do so. He remains a blessing to the MMA community in so many ways.
