Stephen “The Wonderboy” Thompson has recently had a fallout with Dana White and the UFC regarding payment. The UFC president has recently responded with his reasoning in a press conference.
Stephen Thompson is one of the respected strikers in the UFC. Other fighters can only try to replicate his technique and grace in the octagon. “Wonderboy” is also known for being extremely polite to his peers in the UFC. This is something unique considering the aggressive nature of the sport. However, Thompson seemed to want to initiate an argument against the UFC boss for specific concerns.
Stephen Thompson voiced his dissenting opinions regarding the due payment for his canceled fight. According to Thompson, whether or not he fought on the night is irrelevant. He must be compensated for the weeks of preparation he committed to through payment of coaches and staff. Considering the fight was canceled due to Thompson’s opponent’s failure to pull through, this seems like a valid argument.
However, Dana White has responded with his sound logic, which is as simple as, he cannot pay an employee for not performing their job, which in this case, is fighting. The UFC boss also explained the organization’s various alternatives to such situations to show empathy and maintain relations.
Dana White has confirmed Conor McGregor will face Michael Chandler upon Irishman’s return to Octagon
UFC president Dana White has commented on the probable return of Conor McGregor to the UFC shortly. Following the former champ’s troubles with the law and absence from anti-doping tests, the MMA community was not too hopeful of a return. One person who was genuinely concerned with developments was former Bellator fighter Michael Chandler.
However, to almost everyone’s relief, Dana has confirmed that Conor McGregor will return to fight in the UFC against Michael Chandler as planned. The UFC boss explained his recent call with the Irishman and his stance.
Although McGregor has indulged in trash-talking with several fighters, the UFC is positive that Conor’s next fight is against Chandler. Fans are delighted to hear such positive news and hope to see the matchup soon.
