Dana White has been part of various feuds and controversies in his UFC career but nothing comes close to his fallout with Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz. It goes without saying that in the past, both Couture and Ortiz have been crossed off of White’s good friend’s list. As one of the UFC’s top fighters during the turbulent early 2000s, Ortiz constantly fought for increased pay, while Couture actually left the organization in 2007 and relinquished the heavyweight belt due to a contract disagreement.
In a recent interview with BigBoy TV, White revealed his feelings towards Ortiz and Couture. He said, “Tito Ortiz… when him and Chuck [Liddell] fought. As the promoter, you’re not supposed to have a rooting interest. I couldn’t f****** wait to see Chuck whoop his ass. A hundred percent. Especially, at such a critical time in the sport’s development and the development of the UFC, there are probably two guys that absolutely tried to destroy the company at that time and it was Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture. … Two of the worst guys to ever f****** deal with.”
According to White, when Chuck Liddell defeated Ortiz, he enjoyed every bit of it. The UFC president also claimed that Ortiz and Couture were very hard to do business with and were destroying the company back then.
The bad blood between White and Ortiz is very serious and at one point the pair was set to have a boxing match, which turned out to be a disappointing spectacle. Both parties pointed fingers at each other for the fight’s cancellation. To this day, White still holds strong negative feelings towards Ortiz whenever his name comes up.

Tito Ortiz reveals why he didn’t take the boxing bout with Dana White

In 2007, there was considerable anticipation surrounding a boxing match between Tito Ortiz and Dana White, which was meant to be a part of their ongoing feud. However, the fight was ultimately canceled due to Ortiz’s absence at the weigh-in. White later claimed that Ortiz, after all that trash-talking, got scared and didn’t show up. However, Ortiz finally revealed his side of the story regarding this incident.
He said, “It was supposed to be 50/50 [split] on any money that was revenue from the fight,” Ortiz said. “And then when it came about to the contract to sign — and I’ve always signed a bout agreement for a fight that I was doing — that wasn’t in it. I wasn’t making nothing of it. It was a lose-lose situation for me.”
According to the UFC Hall of Famer, he revealed that he had no plans to fight for free with White. Nevertheless, Ortiz admitted that things between him and Dana could have been different.
