Dana White was silent about what happened at the UFC 296 pre-fight press conference between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington. However, he provided his two cents on the matter at the UFC 296 post-fight press conference. Despite the talk, Covington could not secure a victory, and Edwards won easily. Moreover, in the octagon interview, Leon Edwards talked about the toll the remark from Covington had on his mental state.
At the post-fight press conference, the media asked White about the remarks Covington made of Edwards’ father. This is what White said in reply:
What I say is true. We're in the fight game. Lots of mean things are said, and one of the things that I really don't like is when people start going after family. Whether it's the kids, the wife, the parents, or whatever, it's just such a nasty thing to do.Dana White via UFC 296 post-fight press conference

Like most of the members of the UFC community, Dana White also did not like what Covington did. White likes the idea of trash-talking to promote a fight. However, he does not like family members dragged into it. Covington’s statements got a negative reaction from the whole of the UFC community. Belal Muhammad and Marvin Vettori, among others, tweeted their frustration.
Nevertheless, Edwards won comfortably against Covington. All the judges had the scorecard of 49-46. In the post-fight presser, Edwards did not specify who he wanted next. Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov are the likely candidates.
Dana White on the PPV buy impact of Colby Covington
Colby Covington delivered one of the most insensitive remarks even for a trash talk at the UFC 296 pre-fight press conference. His actions caused many in the UFC to rile up on social media. As far as the positives of the incident, Edwards made more money than he originally could’ve.

Dana White explained it at the post-fight press conference of UFC 296. This is what he said:
After that press conference or even during it, pay-per-view sales shot up by 25%. It wasn't just based on YouTube views. Our analytical team tracked actual pre-buys while the press conference was happening. This increase was not just in the United States but globally, which is absolutely fascinating.
The champions in the UFC get a portion of the PPV they headline or co-headline. Covington’s offensive remarks at UFC skyrocketed PPV sales by more than 25 percent. The beneficiaries of the sales are only Edwards and Alexandre Pantoja.
