Dana White is a good friend of tech billionaire Elon Musk. Musk was recently in the headlines for a viral moment. In a recent interview, Musk went off at the sponsors who took advertisements from X. The viral ‘go f**ck yourself’ moment received praise and criticism worldwide. Now, at UFC Austin, White shared his sentiments on the matter.
In a recent appearance on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, White went off at the sponsors who told him not to support Donald Trump. He doubled down on his thoughts about the company’s relationship with sponsors. This is what he said about it referring the Elon Musk incident:
I think there is more people than me and Elon that feel that way. Just because you sponsor doesn't mean you run this business. You're definitely not telling me what to do. That's a fact, that's never gonna happen ever.Dana White via UFC Austin post-fight press conference
White further clarified that he has a new mindset when dealing with sponsors. He now views sponsorships as relationships where thoughts and beliefs should be aligned. White is a firm believer in free speech. He famously threw Peloton machines out of the UFC PI after The Von told a story about the Peloton CEO forcing him to cancel Robert F Kennedy Jr.’s podcast episode.
In a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast, White praised Elon Musk. White felt that someone like Musk is necessary in the current scenario where the cancel culture mafia works rampant. Moreover, White supports Trump to be the President of the USA. Furthermore, he is also grateful to Ron DeSantis for his work as Governor of Floria. However, he felt that DeSantis should not run for President.
Dana White and the UFC have a record-breaking night at UFC Austin
UFC Austin was a big success for the UFC. It broke the record for the highest gate for a Fight Night event in the United States of America. The event was also the highest-grossed event in the Arena’s history.
White was visibly happy about the event in the post-fight press conference. So, he gave half a million in bonuses to fighters. This is what he said about it.
We gave eight bonuses for finishes and (Rodolfo) Bellato and Ihor (Potieria) gave them Fight of the Night, so half a million dollars tonight in bonuses for everybody. Badass card, they all deserve it.
Arman Tsarukyan, Jalin Turner, Sean Brady, Dustin Stoltzfus, Miesha Tate, Cody Brundage, Drakkar Klose, and Jared Gooden are the eight fighters who won the Performance Bonus for the event. All finished their opponents in a highlight-reel manner. Moreover, Tsarukyan, Turner, Brundage, and Klose scored devastating first-round finishes over their respective opponents.
